Over the past 60 years, Darryl has been producing indoor car shows across the country. As the torch has been passed to two of his children, the new producers have decided to mix things up and try a new element - an outdoor event. If showing your car indoors for the weekend isn't your bag, and would rather drive-in for a few hours and show off your altered ride, the Cool Car Corral cruise-in is just the ticket. For just $40, you and your car will have full access to not only the outdoor show, but the indoor as well. First 100 entrants will also receive a free CCC t-shirt and decal! So bring out your car and your favorite tailgate necessities and participate in the annual Cool Car Corral cruise in party!
Murpho Murphy and Team chopping a 1952 Ford 2-Door Sedan
Murpho is the driving force and owner of Murpho's Rods and Kustoms, located in Buda, Texas. Murpho is originally from Southern California and got his start in the early 80s in mini trucks and pro street performance cars. He built cars from the frame up and spent several years honing in on his skills to help him progress. California is where his genuine passion for car building evolved, which was a constant inspiration for him. With so many legendary car builders helping shape the iconic kustom culture, it was no surprise he would follow in the footsteps of the ones that came before him.
Murpho relocated to the Austin area in 2010 and has been growing the Murpho's brand ever since. Murpho's Rods and Kustoms started in a small, retro service station in South Austin. Murphy pushed himself to grow the business into a 10,000-square-foot shop in Buda, Texas. The shop is packed and employs 13 full-time people who work on 20 to 30 projects simultaneously
Although Murpho's true passion is working on the '30s, '40s, and '50s kustoms, he opens the shop to several pre-1972 projects, including resto-mods, hot rods, trucks, and muscle cars. Murpho's specializes in custom modifications, including channeling, chopping, shaving, custom paint, metal fabrication, and engine swaps. In addition to owning his own business, Murpho personally has been inducted into the West Coast Kustoms Hall of Fame in 2022 and took home the KKOA "777 Custom Crown Award" and the John D'Agostino "Custom D'Eelegance" crystal award in 2021. His custom creations have been shown at car shows across the country, and he even completed a two-day chop this past year at the Eville Shindig in Evansville, Indiana, with the help of Kustom Kollette, David Neeper, Spencer James, David Nepper, and Matt Murray. It truly shows Murpho has been able to turn his passion into a career and we can't wait to see what the rest of the road holds for him.
