Air Fryer Parmesan Tomatoes are a delicious and tasty way to eat tomatoes. The tomato slices get perfectly roasted while the cheese gets bubbly and golden in the air fryer.
Cooking tomatoes in the air fryer is quick and easy. Add some spices and a light dusting of fresh parmesan cheese and you have a delicious appetizer, snack, or side dish.
When making these tomatoes in the air fryer, it almost smells like a pizza cooking, but a low carb version! I like to add fresh basil at the end to really give it those Italian vibes.
I like mine warm and fresh out of the air fryer, but my husband has eaten these cold and still says they are fantastic!
For the tomatoes, it's best to use tomatoes like beefsteak (or a similar variety), roma, or campari tomatoes.
Ingredients
- Tomatoes
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper
- Oregano
- Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil (optional)
How to make air fryer tomatoes
Slice your tomatoes and place on a cutting board.
Drizzle the tomato slices with olive oil, then add dried oregano, salt, and pepper.
Grate your parmesan cheese.
Add your tomatoes to the air fryer basket and then cook at 380 degrees F for 10 minutes.
Carefully remove from the air fryer basket. Top with fresh basil, if desired. Enjoy!
Recipe tips
- I used parchment paper to keep my tomatoes from sticking, but if you're putting them directly in the air fryer basket, you'll want to spray or brush the basket with oil to keep it from sticking.
- All air fryers cook differently. Watch your tomatoes closely and check often to get to the perfect level of cheesy doneness!
- For this recipe I used one large tomato, but if you're using roma or campari tomatoes, you may wind up using two. This recipe is also easy to double or triple! Just make sure to put the tomatoes in a single layer in your air fryer basket.
What to serve with the tomatoes
I love serving these air fryer parmesan tomatoes as an appetizer. They pair perfectly with air fryer paprika chicken thighs, air fryer honey dijon salmon, air fryer pesto salmon, or harissa honey chicken bites.
If serving as an afternoon snack, I love to serve these along with some olives, this easy asparagus pesto puff pastry tart, or some salmon and goat cheese crostini.

Can these be stored?

I think they are best eaten right away, however if storing, put in a single layer into a container and store in the refrigerator.

Would this work with tomatillos?
Reply
Aimee
It should, and they actually might hold up a bit better! But you might want to watch them and test for tenderness to see if you need to cook them a couple of extra minutes.
